Why some tall parents have short kids

From what I gather, I most likely won't have a surprise late-bloomer growth spurt, but as I've said before, I am shorter than my father and the same height as my mother (maybe a smidgen less), so I am one of those less common cases where I end up shorter than both parents are close to my mother's height. It's usually taller than both or in between right?

But then there are those, I think of celebrity kids who end up much shorter than most people would think. Look at Michael Jordan's kids. They're both considerably shorter than he is with both of them being around 6. I think one of them is 6 even.

Well, that regression toward the mean might just be it. I always hear women running from shorter guys claiming they don't want short kids, they end up having a kid by a taller guy and then what if the kid doesn't grow to be as tall as they'd like. I've seen people talk about Will Smith here. His son is about 5'6. Yes, Jada Pinkett-Smith is only 5'1, but that regression toward the mean probably means that chasing height really isn't that serious.

You could both be short and still have a tall child and vice-versa.
