I think it's because men are "supposed to" represent themselves in their natural form on some biological level so they can be selected for their genes. Women are allowed to misrepresent themselves so they can position themselves to select the best genes. If men misrepresent themselves then women feel "cheated" since they are the ones carrying the baby.

I'm not saying it's right or that what I'm saying is from scientific study, but I think that's what drives society to mock men who "enhance" themselves.

She'll date a (loaded) "short guy" in about ten years or so. Her idea of settling when she decided to carry was to not settle on height genes and take a gamble on everything else.

I wouldn't recommend anyone do this regardless of height. You've been living under a rock if you think that a random 6' dude could walk. up and do something like this, or that this type of behavior is common. This is the #MeToo and accusation era. A friend of mine who is 6'2 was recently arrested because of a false allegation that arose from him simply flirting.
