Why is everything a short guy does considered overcompensating?

This is crazy. If I buy a nice car, I'm "overcompensating". If I go to the gym, I'm "overcompensating". What can we do that isn't seen as overcompensating. The whole idea of overcompensating is sad.

Guess its about status, rather people see it as, if you deserve it or not.

Short guys have no status in life, and are not taken seriously, therefore people think that you are overcompensating and trying to immitate something better, which they deem you for not to be.
If that makes sence.
