Came across this article which pretty much sums up what those who are aware already know. While height in the Eurpoean low countries has been increasing over the last 50-100 years, height here in the U.S.A. has stagnated. No matter what crappy anecdotes your younger colleagues are telling you ("All of the guys in my freshmen classes are 6' on average), Americans now are the same height or in some cases shorter than 50 years ago and no, "immigration is not brining it down".
Interesting facts:
- The U.S. ranks 40th for height and height has been in steady decline since the 50s. (Graph http://imgur.com/a/PCyMn)
- Height worldwide stagnated since the 70s. (Graph http://imgur.com/a/DYMmU)
- Researchers believe that the Dutch have reached the limits of human height
- Immigrants are NOT bringing American height averages down. White Americans Males have stalled at 5'9.5 (CDC)
- Canadians are taller than Americans
- Americans were almost the tallest country in the world in 1900 (117 years ago FYI)
I'm don't have the "bald gene", but if I did, I wouldn't go for a hair tattoo. To me, it's like a temporary band aid. Save up and go for the laser surgery. Do it and the hair will be your actual hair. With a hair tat, you'd be limited to a certain hair style.

Do you lie about your height? Have you heard other guys lie about their height?
Once, a guy about 6'2" said to me "I'm 6 foot 4. You can't be 6 feet because I'm 6'4".
Another guy working in a store, who was wearing thick boots, said "I'm 6'1". I walked by him and he was a least 2 inches shorter than me. He was probably 5'9.5"-5'10".
I can't speak for everyone, but I do not lie about my height IRL. Online dating is another story. If you're 6' like your profile says, you know that being 5'10 and up is an asset. Being under 5'9 is a major strike against you with every inch under being an additional stab to a wound.
I have gone to the gym and other guys lie to your face about how tall they are, tall or short. One guy who was exactly my height told me he was 5'10, so it does happen. I've know taller women call out tall guys when they lie about their height, so it's not something specific to short guys.
