Why do men who are short feel the need to have more muscle?

I noticed that men under 5'9 then to want to be more buff where taller guys, they don't need to work out and still get tons of women. Is it a tall and slender look that some women like? Or short and buff? I mean I rarely see a man over 5'9 with a fit and buff body. Are they trying to compensate? I am only 5'6 myself and wear medium tops. So I am not "thin" but I am not buff either.

Some do, some don't. Some short guys put on muscle easily while others don't. I think most men would rather have decent sized muscles vs being a stick.

I was watching that show Tosh.0 a few weeks ago and he said something along the lines of...He doesn't have to work out or work on his body because he is tall (and not fat) so muscles don't effect his dating game. He made a joke about how short guys need muscle to compete with taller guys. I can't recall his exact wording but I guess there is some truth to it.

I had a buddy years ago who barely had to do anything and he packed on muscle. He was 5'7. His close friend who was 5'11 struggled. Some guys have the genes for it. They don't do it on purpose.

I think this only happens when guys feel they need to prove something. Not all short guys are packed with muscle.

I don't feel the need for it but I like having it. I get what you are saying, and while it is true for some, others like me just want to be in great shape.

I have heard tall thinner men joke about this more than more built taller men. I honestly think it is just a way to say "I can be skinny and attractive to women because I am also tall"
