Good thread comparing heightism to colorism

This was from a post on Lipstick Alley, a site for black women. A lot of the darker skinned women complain about "colorism" and how unfair it is, but are quick to denigrate a man because of his height which of course is just as uncontrollable as someone's complexion. This is the first post. I will leave a link to the thread underneath

Is it really comparable though? I don't think so..

I hear men say "women always curve short dudes but they get mad if we prefer light skin women." And "if we were talking about dark skin women about the way y'all talk about short men, you would be mad".

Then my sister was talking about the other day how "all men love tall women because we are goddesses and we hold weight better (she's dark skin btw and she was saying it in a joking way) and one of our cousins is a shorter light skin girl and she said "but y'all hate when men say they prefer light skin women but it's okay for you to talk sh*t about short women". She also then said that "most men would prefer a short light skin girl over a tall dark skin girl anyway, us lightskins always winnin" (Wow right?)

Like why does everything about height have to revert back to colorism. People always want to bring colorism up when we are talking about a whole different topic. You can't compare oppression and slavery to height!

Rant over

Bagel guy interviewed on the Jim and Sam Show (great stuff)

This video really brings a lot of light to the way short guys are treated. Sure he's under the height of what many men who consider themselves short to be, but it is so great that Chris and this phenomenon is getting so much publicity.

The most right swiped heights on dating profiles for men

This very interesting articles uncovers some truths many would never have assumed existed. Apparently 5ft6 is one of the most right swiped heights on Tinder. Take a look at this chart from this SUN article:

TALL TALE

Dating app reveals most right-swiped heights for men and women – and it’s good news for short people

The most-wanted height for men was actually below the nation's average

LISTING your height on your Tinder bio is deemed a necessity by many users, but according to a new study the demand for measurements may actually be good news for short people.

Despite widely-held beliefs, size doesn't matter to serial swipers both male and female, according to fresh data from leading dating app Badooo.

short guy mockery on the internet

some guy went into a rage about how woman reject him or whatever, and it is of course acceptable to pick on him because picking on a short male is the only "acceptable" form of discrimination or whatever allowed in our society

https://twitter.com/oliviabradley88/status/1148958211531268099

it is funny looking on the Twitter how everyone is making fun of him especially these "woman" who are all about LBQT or whatever or women's rights crap (the person who posted it has the idiotic rainbow flag), just goes to show how the guy is justified in anything he is feeling, in a guys position like that it is about the lowest thing a person can feel because woman ultimately hate him because he is short and they are also mocking him on top of it, and a mans ultimate purpose on the earth is to have woman and they are basically making a mockery of him, so how is a guy like that able to deal with something like that? and this is an extremely viral video, almost 20 Million views in less than a day, all the comments are mocking him, either mocking him on his height or just in general

Does anyone have feedback for Limb Lengthening?

I was wondering if anyone here has any kind of feedback regarding limb lengthening.  I stand at 65.5" and am about sick of nearly all 13 year-old boys being my height or more.  I have been researching this for several years and have seen strides in improvements with the implants and hardware.  Did you have pain for weeks or months...when did it finally subside?  Were there any complications?  What hardware did you receive...Precice Nail, Albizza Nail, Betzbone, etc?  How did you explain your gain in height to friends, family, or coworkers?  How much height did you gain?  Did you do femurs only, lower legs only, or did you end up doing both femurs and lower legs?  Sure it stings to spend such a large sum on something like this, but it also stings thinking back on missed opportunities, lack of respect, overlooked as a dating option, being juvenilzied, etc due to lack of height.  I know I will never be the 6' gold standard that has been imposed on us, but even to make it to 68" or 69" would be amazing.  Any information in any capacity would be much appreciated.  Thanks so much!!!

PS...before you tell me I'm crazy and I should buy a house or nice car with that kind of money...I've already done that...I'm still the short guy that has that stuff.  It's the inescapable stigma no matter what you buy or accomplish.

Every woman, and short guy, needs to watch this video.

Height-related content begins at 5:30, but HIGHLY recommend whole video.

The best thing that never happened (i.e. Tall men get rejected also!)

This is just a great story where Richard Cooper (presenter) talks about how he was rejected from a life dream because of his height and had to move onto other things. A great message overall. Worth the listen.

You will not change society's mind regarding short stature.

The fact that there hasn't been a new post on here in month proves this point...  the plight of the short-stature man falls on deaf ears.  I had a stature lengthening consult a while ago.  It was pretty awesome.  The bottom line is this, you can't help being born a short guy, there's nothing you can really do about that.  REMAINING short, however, IS a choice.  With advances in limb lengthening, you can be back on your feet within a few days, walking unassisted within a couple of weeks, and recovered fully within months.  Some people will tell you that you're crazy to spend that kind of money on that.  You'll hear, "You can buy a fancy sports car, a house, a boat, etc, with that kind of money."  But you know what...you'll still be the SHORT GUY with the fancy car, a nice house, or a boat.  No matter what, the stigma follows.  And yes, some articles on this site will say to focus on your health, personality, career, etc.  But that will still leave you in the short category regardless.  It is much easier to have a procedure done and escape the stigma than it is to change the collective mind of society...because that will simply never happen.  Let's hear some thoughts on this.

Why Tom Cruise doesn't get height surgery if he can grow 5 inches?

For those who say you can't grow taller at age 35, that it's impossible this and that. Guess what's good news? Yes you can.

And I already saved up some money to do it in 2 years. Going for 3 inches first. If I like it, then 2 more inches.

What after that? I'll be 5'9" or 5'11". What is the deep point? Go after your dreams if you want it badly. Pain is temporary, height is forever.

What is a permanent way to grow taller for those who have the resources?

Height surgery www.makemetaller.org read the hospitals where they do it safely and read the diaries.

What's stopping you? Fear. What's not stopping me? You live once and have the resources and the only thing you should fear is the Lord not pain or a 0.5% chance of having a problem.

Where do they do this safely? In many places in the US

What is the cost to do it safely? $60,000 here in North Hollywood, $80k or so in Florida and few places in Baltimore, MD

How much can you lengthen safely? 4-5 inches in 2 pair of bones. Or juts 3 inches in one shot.

How does this sound? Fear only the Lord, not the money, not the pain. Height surgery is improving, not perfecting yourself.
