Are Americans more heightist since most have German ancestry?

2/3 of Americans are of German, Dutch or Scandinavian ancestry? Is this way America is so obsessed with height, because they bought their culture from there to here?

Humans out of Africa were shorter helping them survive Ice Age

According to this study in the New York Times, humans migrating out of Africa had genes which made them shorter which in turn helped them survive the Ice Age.

Are incels generally shorter than average?

Was reading a post on reddit about "incels" (men who are involuntarily celibate) and how they are generally shorter than average. But by rummaging through most of that sub-reddit, many of those guys self-report as average height or tall. This leads me to believe that most of these self diagnosed incels aren't incels because of their height, but because they are under average in facial attractiveness, have weak physiques or can't socialize.

What's your take on this? Any of you consider yourselves as "incels"?

Why is evolution used to justify heightism but not racism and sexism?

Don't social scientists agree that racism evolved from the need to identify outsiders and protect the tribe and sexism to protect women as they were pregnant and while babies were young to keep the species going? So why is it when dating, I can't say that I don't find women of a certain race attractive and then say it's because of evolution or say that I prefer docile more traditional women? Wouldn't you say those are more important than height when choosing a partner?

new growth plate regeneration technology will make you taller

Before you know it, new technology will be able to make us taller even well after puberty. Research is underway to regenerate growth plate tissue and is showing promising results: https://health.clevelandclinic.org/2014/02/regrowing-growth-plates-a-fix-for-kids-injuries/

Once upon a time, if you ended up short after puberty, you were short forever. Pretty soon it won't have to be that way.

Short and Bald

I am currently 30 years old and I'm 5'6. I began loosing my hair at 22. I know that it is what it is, but every now and then, I do become a little insecure about it. Who else is short and have the bald gene?

How did you feel when you knew you stopped growing?

How did you know when you stopped growing and how did you feel about it? Any reality checks, disappointment or resentment? Did you care? Did it have a major impact on you at that point?

Height Supremacists who insist biology? Why don't men want tall women?

If you think women want tall men for biological and instinctual reasons, then why don't men wan't super tall women? Taking it a step further, why don't women wan't super tall men only? Most NBA players are well over 6'5. Shouldn't women be rejecting all men who are not super tall?

Do you want your children to be taller than you?

Obviously you'll love them no matter what but let's be honest here....

How do your mother or female family members feel about your height?

Does she comment on it negatively or at all?

Anyone come across taller people who think they earned their height?

Every time I go to a family function or a reunion type of event, the subject of how short I am compared to others comes up and annoys me to no end. While I brush most of it off, there is always one idiot type who preaches to me about how I should've slept more, ate more, exercised more and that it's "my fault" that I'm short. All of those things I'm accused of not doing, I did, but I know very well that I am short because my family is short overall.

Anyone come across these ignorant asshats who think they "earned" their height?

What genetic factors play into height?

Has anyone figured this out yet? I keep reading things like "maybe if you ate your greens you would've grown more", but what about people like me whose parents cooked every other day and fed me healthy food. Lots of meats, greens and very little junk food. I got plenty of exercise, was an athlete in high school and still I didn't grow to average or above average height? By comparison, one of my best friends in High School ate nothing but junk food (candy, sweets, etc).

They say that height is 80% genetic and 20% environmental. Anyone have any insight as to which genes play into height and what a person can do to mitigate short stature? Not that there's anything wrong with it, but I'm curious.

Those times when you see younger family or friends after a few years

Had this moment yesterday at a family cookout. I was sort of a reunion. Can't tell you how I felt after a whole bunch of my younger family members bragged that they grew past me. You think a fat women would tell other fat family members and friends "oh, I just went past you, I'm thinner than you now".

This insensitivity towards something you can't change versus something that can easily be changed is unbelievable.

Will short men be wiped out of the genome in the future?

Designer babies are going to be the norm one day or at least in the hands of the elite classes. Even without artificially manipulating DNA in the lab, women are choosing men who are 6'+ and have degrees, and mostly white. They also go to college more than men and make sufficient income. They can go on Tinder and OKCupid and select guys with the traits that they want.

Where does this leave short guys like us?

Wife doesn't want short kids, so suggests sperm donor to husband

This stuff is unreal. Visit this reddit thread where a woman suggests that they should use a sperm donor to have a kid instead of his actual sperm. What a slap in the face. Even if you get married you have to walk on eggshells as a short man.
