What are the chances of short becoming a future fad?

You see this happening? Everyone is getting taller, so being short would be kind of novelty. Everyone has brown hair and a smaller percentage of the population has blue eyes, so everyone goes crazy over blue eyes. With less men "short", do you see any chance of shorter guys being viewed in the same way blue eyes are?... as in a favorable trait?

Heightism has to be based in sexism

We assign tall to men, and short/weak to women. Women fight for equality, but still want to stand behind a big tall muscular man to "feel protected". What is the reasoning behind this? How can a woman champion feminist causes but still be anti-short man (professionally, when it comes to giving respect and romantic choices)? Short women are considered "cute, petite and sexy", while tall women are "gorgeous models".

Both short and tall women are treated with respect and protected socially, while shorter men are seen as a perpetual joke. I'm surprised that you guys don't discuss this idea of "reverse sexism" more.

Hey everyone, new member here

Just joined today and wanted to say hello.  Never thought about looking for a community of other short people before.  Pretty amazed I never thought about it before considering I've been 5'3 since high school.  Anyways, glad I found this site and Happy New Year everyone.

Does your partner/significant other catch flak for dating you?

I'm just shy of 5'4 and can tell you that whenever my girlfriend's tells me often that when she discloses my height (usually when somebody asks), they are met with disbelief and then questioning ensues. My girlfriend is the same height as me.

What is life like in the working world for short men?

I am in my second year of university and top out at 5'5. While I have few complains about my dating life, between reading this forum and watching TV where jokes are always done a short man's expense, I worry a little bit about what may become of me once I graduate and enter the work force. My area of study is marketing, so I will be in the business world. There is a study which is popular here that refers to taller men making more money and being taken more seriously.

In my internship, most men are much taller than I and women wear heels. Same when I go to mixers. I'm beginning to worry that my height will affect how I am perceived as in I'll be disqualified and not considered a serious candidate by anyone.

On that note, what is your experience as a short male in the workplace?

TL:DR - About to graduate university and enter the workforce. Worried that being short will make my experience difficult. Do you have any stories about how your height as affected you in the workplace?

Ever not able to defend yourself or someone because of your size?

Like anyone say anything disrespectful to you or push you into a fight and you think to yourself that you couldn't win or know off the bat that you don't stand a chance? Or are there short men here who are confident that they can defend themselves and never worry about physical assault?

Photoshoot Praises Curvy Women But Trashes Short Guys

Huffington Post: Ashley Graham's Sexist Shoot Is Also Her Most Powerful

I've read other forums where they "celebrate" what a "victory" this is for both curvy women and short men, but I would be a million dollars that in real life, this model could not or would not want to be able to pick up her boyfriend this way and has an impermeable preference for men not shorter than herself.

Anyone come across taller people who think they earned their height?

Every time I go to a family function or a reunion type of event, the subject of how short I am compared to others comes up and annoys me to no end. While I brush most of it off, there is always one idiot type who preaches to me about how I should've slept more, ate more, exercised more and that it's "my fault" that I'm short. All of those things I'm accused of not doing, I did, but I know very well that I am short because my family is short overall.

Anyone come across these ignorant asshats who think they "earned" their height?

Where do you guys buy your coats?

Whenever I go to the big box retailers, I can find coats my size, but either the chest space is way too big, or the sleeves way too long. I prefer bubble coats, or coats with fur hoodies (think Canada Goose). I'm 5'6. Where do you guys get your coats?

Can women to be attracted to a short guys like they are to tall men?

When a woman is attracted to me, I notice that it is "different" than the way she is when attracted to a tall man. It's like there's something more special, like a certain way they look at taller guys. When women are with short guys it doesn't quite seem the same. Anyone else notice this?

Just bought a new car, perfect for my size. Tall friends hate it lol

Just bought a mini cooper, a car I wanted for a long time. Ignoring the obvious puns, this baby can fit in just about any parking space. My childhood best friend who is now 6'3 complained to no end when sitting in the back seat when all of the guys went out for a guy's night last week lol. We all had a laugh.

Any of you into small whips like myself or do you hover closer to the short man stereotype of driving big cars and big trucks?

Personally, the smaller the car, the better (as long as we're not talking about those one seat smart cars, then I'd get claustrophobic). smiley
