Miley Cyrus making "heightism" a little more acceptable among females
not that they needed any more influence, but she recently bragged about her boyfriend being above 5 foot 9 among other traits, no doubt females see this and they think, "god, I can not settle for a guy under 5 foot 9 if that is what it takes to have a real man!" of course I am sure Miley and those who are like her are the first to call for a males head if they make any disparaging comment about a female and her appearence, but of course short guys, and also guys who do not have a good "dick game" are fair people to demonize in the feminist culture today https://twitter.com/PopCrave/status/1074832369071345670

While height in the Eurpoean low countries has been increasing over the last 50-100 years, height here in the U.S.A. has stagnated. No matter what crappy anecdotes your younger colleagues are telling you ("All of the guys in my freshmen classes are 6' on average), Americans now are the same height or in some cases shorter than 50 years ago and no, "immigration is not brining it down". Comebacks for height insults.
I don't get a lot of height jokes, but I have a colleague at work who is two inches shorter than me and not a day goes by where someone doesn't insult him for his height. Whenever they insult him he just stays quiet and laughs it off, but I can tell he is uncomfortable.
Whenever someone sends a joke my way, I destroy them by sizing them up and picking out something they'd be insecure about. I'm not insecure for being short, but I bet the people who insult me when they do it assume so.
So what comebacks do you have and use? This should be a useful and comprehensive list. |

Have humans gotten statistically taller? (Hormones/Diet)
Sounds crazy, but when I go to stores, I usually shop for S/P sizes. The other day I went into a vintage store and medium sizes fit me perfectly - gloves, pants, shirts - you name it. The perfect fit surprised the hell out of me. This leads me to ask. Were men significantly shorter in the 1910s - 1930s?

Why do men over 5'8 complain?
Men who are at least 5'8 are rarely the butt of short jokes and do get taken more seriously in the workplace. Aside from the infrequent "relative" short joke (more like haha, you're not 6 ft as opposed to "you're not a real man" ) and the occasional woman who is like 5'10 not being interested, men 5'8 and up have it way easier than someone say below 5'6. To those men, I say man the hell up! |

23andMe DNA test to figure out why shortness is prevalent in my DNA?
23andMe is a mail-in DNA test. You basically can swab your cheek and send it in for reporting. I already know my immediate background, but am wondering if some unknown connection can explain why shortness runs in my family. I am content with being short, but am just curious to know if certain populations running thick in my DNA can explain it better. Any of you ever do a DNA test and what are your backgrounds? |

Which country have you felt tallest in and what was it like?
I just came back from a trip to Colombia and never felt closer to average height. Just about every man I came across in Bogota and Baranquilla weren't that much taller than me. Mind you, Bogota is the capital, a major city. Last year I was in Germany and it was obviously the complete opposite. Which countries or cities have you been to where you felt the tallest or shortest? |
