Anyone hate being told "be confident"?

Confidence comes from previous successes. If you are someone who doesn't have many successes, how are you going to be confident? Why is that people tell short guys who don't do well in dating to "be confident"? For what? Why not just admit that a lot of women are attracted to men they find attractive FIRST, then they look for "confidence"?

It would make more sense to tell short guys to be amazing at whatever it is that they do. Be the best skier, be amazing at playing the piano, be an amazing student. That type of confidence is reassurance in your strengths, but as a means to attract women? "Be confident"? What the hell does that mean?

Wow @ this reddit post about being ditched on a date because of height

This is a post from reddit. I'll link it below the copied/pasted text from the post:

Random girl found me on FB...

I'm a musician and she claimed to be "super into music" so I took her to see Chevelle at the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park NY.

Her first words to me after meeting in person were "Wow...I didn't think you were that short!"

(I'm 5'6", she's looked to be 5'3"-5'4")

So we hang out at the bar for the opening acts and it's clear to me that she's not interested by the way she's throwing back shots and blabbering on about how hot the bouncer was...

"Seriously...Did you see his muscles?!"

Me: Yea...He's a big guy...

"He's gotta be at least 6'4"!"

Me: Most likely...

"I would let him do whatever he wants to me!"

Me: Seems like the kinda guy who would end up raping someone.

"You can't rape the willing"

Chevelle goes on and she's into it, but tells me she's going to the bathroom and disappears...

Concert's over and she's nowhere to be found...

I'm texting her and she finally gets back to me..

"Hey...I met this other guy outside and he offered to let me stay at his house...You probably think I'm a real bitch but I can't settle for someone I know I can do better than...I'm sure you'll find someone eventually ;)"

That was 2014 and I haven't been on a date since

On a positive note, Chevelle put on an amazing show!

You literally can't make stuff like this up. The reddit post is here: here

new growth plate regeneration technology will make you taller

Before you know it, new technology will be able to make us taller even well after puberty. Research is underway to regenerate growth plate tissue and is showing promising results: https://health.clevelandclinic.org/2014/02/regrowing-growth-plates-a-fix-for-kids-injuries/

Once upon a time, if you ended up short after puberty, you were short forever. Pretty soon it won't have to be that way.

Anyone here ever get bullied by WOMEN over their height?

Sometimes in the workplace or when hanging out it happens, where a woman would single me out to make jokes, but almost always mean spirited. It's been happening since I graduated college. Usually surrounding guys would laugh then get in on the bullying.

Any of this happen to you guys?

During WWI, The British Had Bantam Regiments. Soilders 5'4 And Under

During World War I, many men wanted to sign up to fight but the British had a height requirement of 5 foot 4. To service these enthusiatic would-be soldiers, they created separate battalions that would be lead by officers of normal height. Their rifles would be cut 6 inches shorter and they had custom made uniforms to accommodate their short stature.

They had an amazing track record.

Read more about them here: http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-31023270

Short and Bald

I am currently 30 years old and I'm 5'6. I began loosing my hair at 22. I know that it is what it is, but every now and then, I do become a little insecure about it. Who else is short and have the bald gene?

Does your mother treat you worse than your taller siblings?

My mother would occasionally throw in shots to express her disappointment with how tall I did not become, but I also noticed that she would coddle more even though I am older. She would give my brothers tougher chores and listens to them for advice on how to accomplish certain tasks where she would be more hesitant and "mother like" when it came to me doing stuff (i.e. "be careful, "do it this way", etc).

Does it get better in your 30s?

Do women tend to look past height once they get out of their 20s (party phase)?

Do you want children?

So here is the thing.
Im in my mid 20's and at least in Denmark where i am from. People tend to get kids around my age or when they finish their education.
Its not very uncommon to see parents, especially single mothers below age 25.

But the general issue about heightism has brought me a very sceptic view on having todlers.
I find the world chaotic where hypocrism has taken over, where women are more shallow than men.
As a comedian said
"Women want a guy who is; taller, stronger, smarter, older and makes more money. But what is there for a guy to like beside ass at titties?"

In short, i find it irresponsible to bring a kid into this world with all the shallowness if thats a word.
Which makes me not want to have kids.
Maybe i will change my mind in some years i dont know.

5'0 Women Loudly Announcing They Only Date Men 6'+. Ever See This?

I'm talking about being in any random social situation and a women in the super short range like 5'2 and under rambling and proclaiming how much they only date tall guys so everyone around her can hear. Double ditto if there are short guys around. It's usually followed up by some short guy ridicule. Usually comes from women under 30 too. How do you guys react to this?

Hi,

I think I found this site a few years ago. Read some threads and never joined but I did recently.

Regarding (short) height, I think it is good to remember the advantages. For example, easier to brush teeth!

For me, at 5'4", that height comes in handy at least 1-2 times per week...

1. I regularly bicycle with a reproduction Schwinn Stingray. Those who remember know that they are quite low to the ground. 20-inch tires. Easy for anyone to ride those if they are under about 5'9".

2. I own a '76 Cadillac limousine. Being a limousine with a partition window, the front seat does not go back as far as those on the other Cadillac models from that year. Anyone over about 5'10" would feel cramped driving it. Plenty of room in the front for me! I drive this car about once every two weeks.

Anyway, I just wanted to post in the new member forum.
